Funky Flip Friday happened for the second time at Crawford Prep Lonehill School on Friday, 23rd January 2015. Held in conjunction with their annual inter-house gala Crawford Prep Lonehill have committed to helping us raise funds for people living with CP on an annual basis through this initiative. They are also challenging other schools to join in the fun and help make a difference.
As our first event for the year IMAGINE was pleased to raise over R6600.00! We thank the staff & management of Crawford Prep Lonehill as well the students & parents for all participating. We arrived at the school at 06h45 and were taken aback by the creativeness of the children and teachers when we saw their Funky Flip Flops – the pictures say it all! We then attended the foundation phase assembly where we gave a talk on what CP is and what IMAGINE does. The children enjoyed it and loved showing off their funky flip flops for the camera. Afterwards, at the office we counted the money as it came in from each classroom. There was a prize for the classes that raised the most funds in the junior and senior phases.
We are working at getting more schools and corporates on board for this easy but fun day. It is especially great at schools because it encourages children to use their imaginations and do something creative whilst knowing they are doing it all for a worthy cause. In the workplace it would be an ideal way to end or start a season. If you would like to introduce the idea your child’s school or your work place to help us raise funds and awareness please contact Karey Hawley on 082 901 0983 and we will help you motivate and put it together.
We are hoping to make this event bigger in the future and definitely look forward to seeing the creative juices flow again at Crawford Prep Lonehill in the years to come.
